Grotto Bundì alla Bellavista

The “new” grotto was designed by our friend and architect Ivano Gianola from Lugano, who is well known beyond Switzerland’s borders, and brought to life with great care, expertise and dedication.

«Grotto Bundi Alla Bellavista» is one of more than 46 houses built in a unique idyll dating back to prehistoric times. Of these 46 houses, only 3 can host guests during the season. According to current findings (Prof. Lurati, former professor at UNI, Basel), the core~dei Grotti di Cama~ is certainly the most significant of its kind in Graubünden and one of the most characteristic in Switzerland, as they reflect the composition of all typologies of grotti identified to date.

In 2018, the Grotti di Cama were included in the funding programme for the 8 most important
“heritage cultural assets” at national level and registered with the Swiss Landscape Fund.

During the renovation of «Grotto Bundi Alla Bellavista», meticulous care was taken to preserve every detail belonging to a typical southern valley grotto . The old section, where cheese, wine and dried meat were stored, was left just as it was in the past. The local granite tables and benches from the region were merely polished. The boccia court was newly constructed in accordance with international standards. By contrast, the interior dining area was completely redesigned with dedication and great charm. In the modern, open kitchen, regional specialities are offered to all lovers of fine food, most of them sourced from the surrounding area.

Grotto «BUNDI ALLA BELLAVISTA» is located in a very beautiful, idyllic chestnut forest in the municipality of Cama. Cama is situated in the Misox Valley in Graubünden, on the San Bernardino route, Lugano > Bellinzona > Chur, and is very easy to reach.
