Trümmelbach Falls

Visit Trümmelbach Falls, Europe's largest underground waterfalls in the Lauterbrunnen Valley. Experience first-hand the power of the glacial water from the Eiger, Mönch and Jungfrau.

What makes Trümmelbach Falls special is that they lie deep inside the mountain – where the Trümmelbach has carved its way through the rock over thousands of years. The ten waterfalls can be explored via secured paths. Tickets are available on site. For safety reasons, dogs and children under four are not admitted.

Discover Trümmelbach Falls (1–2 hours)

Stairs or a tunnel lift take you inside the mountain. Here, up to 20,000 litres of glacial water thunder past you every second. You hear the roar, feel the spray and marvel at the immense power of the Trümmelbach. Each of the ten mighty waterfalls has a viewing platform with information boards.

• Good to know: Wear sturdy shoes; the paths can be wet and slippery.
• Tip: The best time to visit is during the snowmelt in spring or summer.

Hike from Lauterbrunnen to Stechelberg (2 hours)

Hike from Lauterbrunnen along the Lütschine River to Trümmelbach Falls in Stechelberg. Along the way, marvel at the steep rock faces and waterfalls such as the 297-metre-high Staubbach Falls. Once you reach Trümmelbach Falls, it is best to take the tunnel lift and experience the water spectacle as you walk back down.

• Good to know: There is a lovely picnic area with a fire pit in front of Trümmelbach Falls.
• Tip: The hike is particularly beautiful in early summer, when the meadows are in bloom.
