White Tower of Mulegns

The White Tower of Mulegns (also known as Tor Alva) is an extraordinary structure in the small Graubünden village of Mulegns – and a real highlight for architecture fans. It is around 30 metres high and is considered the world’s tallest 3D-printed tower.

The tower is a tribute to the Graubünden confectioners and their imagination – its shape recalls delicate ornaments and “pastry poetry” made of concrete. The project was created through a collaboration between Nova Fundaziun Origen and ETH Zurich, combining culture with innovative construction research.

Its centrepiece is made up of 32 branching, digitally printed columns; a spiral staircase takes you up through several levels. At the very top, a small chamber stage/concert atmosphere awaits – the tower is used as an accessible installation and event venue.
